China’s Mars mission

New images of Mars sent back by China’s Tianwen-1 orbiter

China’s Mars orbiter Tianwen-1 sent back images showing the probe circling above the north pole of the red planet on January 1, 2022. China launched its space mission to Mars on July 23, 2020, becoming only the second country to land on Mars seven months later. The space agency said the Tianwen-1 orbiter and Zhu Rong rover remain in “good condition”, as one of the country’s most ambitious space missions continues.
