Recap by phillip woo

Chateau Le Peche just got up to deny Joyful Champion after travelling one off from midfield for a first win at his 17th start. He appreciated the step up to the distance of a placing last year. Joyful Champion was collared on the wire after briefly finding the front 20m out following a rails run from better than midfield. He's honest but has trouble winning. Golden Fairy wouldn't go down without a fight after dictating the pace from gate 12. He was a winner of his only previous 2,000m run. Favourite Super Hong Kong dashed nicely for fourth down the outside after making his run at the rear from gate 11. It's only a matter of time before he salutes after hitting the frame in five straight runs. Perfect Pairing made some ground for fifth without threatening the top four after a rails run from midfield. It was typical performance despite dropping into Class Five. Leather Master came up one paced after a prominent run three wide until slotting in with cover 1,450m out. It wasn't a bad run from gate 14 with a step up to 2,000m.
