This week’s question: What do you start to love more as you get older?

To take part, drop us a line via this form or email us at [email protected] by 11.59pm on March 13. Tell us your name, age and school.

Here are the blunders our readers want to share ...

Harris Leung Ho-fung, 12, Po Leung Kuk Tang Yuk Tien College: There was a time when my friend messaged me saying I left my phone at his house and a picture of my mobile, so I rushed back to get it. When I reached his house, my friend was laughing at me, but at that moment, I did not know why. After brainstorming for a couple of minutes, it hit me that no one could message me if I didn’t have my phone. He then told me he took the photo before I left to prank me.

Faiza Khan, 15, The Methodist Lee Wai Lee College: Last week, my aunt, whom I’d never met, came to Hong Kong to visit us. I went to pick her up from the airport. At the airport, I greeted her and put her luggage in the car’s boot. Just as I was about to leave, my mum phoned me asking why I had yet to pick up my aunt. This threw me off, and I was confused. It turns out that the woman I assumed was my aunt was someone else. The lady also mistook me for someone else. What a silly mistake.

What was the last photo you took?

Kelvin Lau Tsz-fung, 14, TWGHS Li Ka Shing College: I went to Kowloon with my friends a while ago to watch a concert. While on the bus, I checked the KMB app to see which stop we needed to get off at. But when we came closer to our stop, I forgot to push the button to indicate to the driver that we wanted to get off. So we could only get disembark at the next stop, which is when we discovered that it was too far from where we needed to go. We had to climb a mountain to arrive at our destination. When we finally arrived, we were late and exhausted.

Naomi Choi Yan-chung, 13, Christian Alliance S C Chan Memorial College: When I was in Primary Two, I took part in the Hong Kong school music festival. I didn’t make any mistakes during the performance, so I was confident I would score at least 80 marks. But when I received the score sheet, I was shocked because it said “not rated”. Finally, I discovered that the competition piece was on pages 33-34, and I was playing pages 31-32. I felt furious because all my hard work over the past few months was wasted. If I had prepared for this competition more carefully, I would have achieved a better result.

Bridget Ho Sum-kiu, 14, St Paul’s School (Lam Tin): The silliest error I have ever made is to mistake another lady for my mum. I was strolling in a shopping centre that afternoon when I saw a lady standing outside a shop. I thought that was my mother, so I tapped her and shouted, “Mum!” The lady turned around and looked at me in shock. At that moment, I just wanted to dig a hole and crawl into it. How can someone call a stranger “mum”? That was the most embarrassing mistake of my life.

Tang Kit-hin, 13, Carmel Divine Grace Foundation Secondary School: Falling into the artificial waterfall outside the Hong Kong Velodrome. This experience is quite an embarrassing and unforgettable memory. When I was jogging around the Hong Kong Velodrome and admiring the enchanting lawn with many ornaments around, I saw an artificial waterfall. It was totally brand new to me at that time. I jumped around the waterfall and enjoyed its spray but then accidentally fell into it, leaving me partially drenched.

If you could create a stage name for yourself, what would it be?

Elva Cheung Hoi-ying, 14, Po Leung Kuk Tang Yuk Tian College: As per tradition, children put red packets they receive during the Lunar New Year under their pillows for good luck. As usual, I put the packets inside my pillow cover. However, I forgot to check before putting them into the washing machine. Thus, the packets ended up being torn apart with the money inside. I wouldn’t have made this silly mistake if I had checked thoroughly.

Joanne Fung Kin-tung, 16, Leung Shek Chee College: I went to school in my pyjama bottoms. That morning, I forgot to take off the pants I wore to sleep and dressed in my school uniform straight away. I discovered this silly mistake only when I went to the school bathroom.

Vinci Chan Sum-yi, 15, Pope Paul VI College: Walking into doors. Whenever I think about something too intensely, I lose track of my surroundings. This causes me to accidentally walk into doors, especially glass ones. Although I don’t really get injured, it is pretty embarrassing and silly to bump into doors face-first.

Phoebe Hung Man-fei, 11, Holy Angels Canossian School: Once, I was shopping in the mall with my father. When we finished our chores, I found a man resembling my father. Therefore, I followed him and just kept talking. Suddenly, the man looked at me with a strange expression. I realised at that moment that he was not my father. I immediately ran away, feeling embarrassed. After that little accident, I have never mistaken anyone else for my family members.
