A typical Hollywood action film that keeps your heart pounding until the credit rolls. Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) is an innocent American businesswomen who works for a petroleum company and is detained by North Koreans who accuse her of being a spy.

It becomes apparent that Salt is, in fact, working for the CIA as an agent. But then she is accused of spying for Russia. If she wants to protect her reputation - and her life - she must find the traitor who set her up.

The movie is all about action and thrills, with Jolie proving her worth, yet again, as an action heroine. She is by far the strongest actor in the film - although she also gets the most screen time, so perhaps it's unfair to compare. This is a pure Jolie vehicle - any other character or shot she doesn't feature in is mere dressing.

Unfortunately, being a typical summer blockbuster, there is very little in the way of plot development. What does happen is fairly predictable, and most people will identify the bad guy within the first half hour of the film.

But the effect of the stunning visuals more than makes up for this shortcoming. The whizz-bangs and fight scenes are satisfying in a way only those in Hollywood movies can be.

If you are enjoyed Jolie's Lara Croft series or have waiting to see her in another Mrs Smith-style role, don't miss this.
