A man from Samoa who has lived in Hong Kong for nearly two decades has started a dance school with his wife to teach the art of Polynesian fire knife dancing. Masoe Hogan Toomalatai and his wife Katrina Dalino have been trying to promote the heritage of their homeland with the weekly dance lessons. The sessions have attracted dozens of students across a wide range of ages and nationalities. The school and dancers have also earned growing attention and were recently booked to perform at the Tradition HKFC Tens rugby tournament. The Post’s Oscar Liu attended a fire knife dance class to find out what is involved with learning the vibrant traditional dance.
