Tourists have been largely supportive of the move to restrict visitors from entering the historic geisha district in the Japanese city of Kyoto. The ban will take effect
in April 2024, when tourists visiting Gion will not be allowed from entering private alleyways which serve as entrances for geisha. The measure came after incidents have been reported of the traditional entertainers being harassed for photos and being touched.
