Racing Incident Report
Race Nine : (759) - HOI HA HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 PATCH OF THETA (H485) H Bowman Raced wide and without cover from the 1000 Metres.
Noted to have sustained a small wound to the left hind leg.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 BEAUTY FIT (E279) Z Purton After the race, Z Purton stated that the intention was to hold a forward position, but despite riding his mount along in the early stages it did not show sufficient pace to do so.
He said when caught wide he then elected to shift his mount in behind runners in an attempt to obtain cover which he was able to obtain near the 900 Metres and as a result BEAUTY FIT settled further back in the field than what had been intended.
Horse No 3 HEALTHY HEALTHY (H203) A Badel When questioned regarding his riding, A Badel stated that he was instructed to hold a forward position but not necessarily lead.
He said when his mount showed good pace in the early stages, he was able to improve to the front approaching the 1100 Metres.
He added although he was aware the pace of the event was being run at a genuine pace, he was reluctant to restrain his mount as it was travelling comfortably.
He further stated that he also elected to stay racing away from the rail as he was of the opinion the track was inferior due to the previous race on the turf being run towards the rail in heavy rain.
Horse No 4 FANTASTIC FUN (J364) M L Yeung On the Home Turn raced tight to the inside of NORTHERN BEACHES and was bumped near the 450 Metres.
Horse No 5 HYPER DRAGON BALL (G450) K Teetan Slow to begin.
After the race, K Teetan reported that his mount failed to show pace in the early stages and when he was concerned there may be something amiss with HYPER DRAGON BALL after travelling a short distance, he eased it down from the event approaching the 1100 Metres.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have a continuous displacement of the soft palate.
As previous concern had been expressed with the horse's action, HYPER DRAGON BALL will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments before being allowed to race again.
Horse No 6 SUNLIGHT POWER (H244) C L Chau Shortly after the start was steadied when PATCH OF THETA was taken in by HEALTHY HEALTHY.
In the middle stages raced ungenerously.
Lay in over the concluding stages when placed under pressure.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 ACROSS DA UNIVERSE (J328) M F Poon From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 9 NORTHERN BEACHES (H266) L Hewitson Making the Home Turn NORTHERN BEACHES and FANTASTIC FUN improved to the inside of HEALTHY HEALTHY and near the 450 Metres was crowded by HEALTHY HEALTHY (A Badel) which shifted in, resulting in NORTHERN BEACHES being taken in onto FANTASTIC FUN and NORTHERN BEACHES and FANTASTIC FUN making contact.
A Badel was advised to exercise more care.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 STELLAR SWIFT (J139) A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Horse No 8 EIGHTEEN PALMS (H033) Y L Chung Withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore).
Before being allowed to race again, EIGHTEEN PALMS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sunlight Power responded nicely when popped the question to overhaul favourite Patch Of Theta 50m out after a patient ride third last for a third win this season. He was able to turn the tables with the weights in his favour. Patch Of Theta found one just too good after working to the lead 200m out after a wide without cover trip from midfield carrying top weight. It was another solid performance in defeat. Punted late Beauty Fit ran on well down the outside to edge late-fancied Fantastic Fun for third after biding his time two from the rear. He is honest as the day is long. Fantastic Fun stayed on well for fourth after a box-seat run. It was a pleasing debut effort in Hong Kong. Healthy Healthy didn't quite see out the 1,400m after dictating the run from gate nine. Across Da Universe got going late by beaten rivals after making his run second last from the widest draw. He has gone OK in both local starts but seems to want a longer trip. Hyper Dragon Ball was eased out of the race 950m out after travelling last from gate one.
