An artificial intelligence (AI) paediatrician is set to be introduced in local hospitals throughout China. The model has gained recognition since its launch at Beijing Children’s Hospital in February.

The model is called Futang Baichuan. It is the country’s first large-scale AI model for paediatrics.

The model has a strong knowledge system for both common and rare childhood diseases. It uses paediatric evidence-based medicine to create a personalised diagnosis and come up with treatment plans.

The model is based on knowledge from more than 300 experts at the hospital and many years of medical records. It is highly skilled in clinical reasoning and handling different types of information. The model can also take part in conversations.

When talking with the parents of patients, it can independently ask questions multiple times and communicate patiently.
