Contestant 1
Jack from the fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk. I would take him to the densely populated Sham Shui Po district, where there is a serious housing problem. Many poor people there are homeless or live in subdivided flats. I would ask Jack to plant some magic beans there and create more land in the sky. This way, a lot of people can own comfy homes on those giant beanstalks. And the view would be great, with massive beanstalks standing tall among our skyscrapers!
Contestant 2
Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, who rose to stardom in Hong Kong as a martial arts heroine in the 1990s. In her acceptance speech at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony, the Malaysian actress thanked Hong Kong for “letting me stand on your shoulders, giving me a leg up so I could be here today”. I’m sure her star power can persuade many tourists to visit Hong Kong. I would take her to Temple Street, Goldfish Street, Stone Slabs Street, Aberdeen, Repulse Bay and The Peak, where a few Marvel movies were filmed.
Contestant 3
My great grandfather. This is because his efforts to make money when he had nothing is the reason I am able to study in Hong Kong today. He deserves to see the amazing place he has helped us live in. I would take him to top tourist attractions such as the Big Buddha and The Peak. Also, I would tell him that Hong Kong is steeped in culture and history, and has a lot more to offer than delicious food and an impressive skyline. I hope he will be impressed by the city’s true beauty.
Contestant 4
My favourite artist, Niall Horan, a member of One Direction. I would bring him to Hong Kong Disneyland and Water World – two of my favourite attractions here. They are fun to explore and a great experience. I always enjoy taking the Star Ferry so he would join me on a ride across Victoria Harbour and also visit The Peak, where the tram journey can be amazing. I would also show him the beaches where he can surf or relax so, hopefully in the future, he would come and perform in Hong Kong now that he knows what a wonderful city it is.
Contestant 5
I would invite people from North Korea to come to Hong Kong Disneyland. They have very few opportunities to leave the country due to strict restrictions, and they have limited access to information about the outside world. Hong Kong Disneyland features themed areas that represent different parts of the world, such as Adventureland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. I believe that visiting the park would broaden their horizons and create beautiful memories that would last a lifetime.
Contestant 6
I’d certainly encourage my cousin to come to Hong Kong for the first time. She is a fashion designer with a strong appreciation of art, so there’s no doubt that she would love this city. I would show her the K11 Art Mall in Tsim Sha Tsui. It combines an art gallery with a shopping mall and my cousin would love to explore all of its features and browse the exclusive brands and shops. In contrast, Hong Kong is also well-known for its neon signs and back alleys, so I would take her there and enjoy some of the city’s best street food.
Contestant 7
I would invite my penfriend from England to visit Hong Kong. He has never been here and is always curious about what I do in my hometown. Besides, he cannot afford to buy a plane ticket to Hong Kong. Since he lives in Birmingham, which is far away from the sea, I would first take him to Repulse Bay beach. He can lie down on the soft sand and sunbathe or swim in the ocean. Next, I will take him to the Sky 100 observation deck, which offers a stunning 360-degree view of Hong Kong. I am sure he will be on cloud nine when he visits Hong Kong!
