This Week We Asked: What is your favourite cartoon?

When I was younger, I used to love The Powerpuff Girls and Rugrats. When I was five or six, I used to imagine I was one of the Powerpuff Girls. After my Powerpuff Girls phase, I started watching Rugrats and it became my new favourite because I found it so funny. I loved all the babies and their storylines.

Whose head swells like a balloon every time he receives a compliment? That's right; it's Charlie Brown, the main character from my favourite cartoon, Peanuts. This cartoon strip features a circle of friends, together with the dog, Snoopy. Their daily lives and "adventures" are quite comical, but deep down, they all have kind hearts. The cartoons are really touching and sometimes they make me burst into tears.

My favourite cartoon is Rugrats and also its spin-off, All Grown Up. I love it because it's funny and the characters are so adorable. I think every parent wonders what their little toddler is saying. Rugrats provides the ultimate answer to this question. I do believe that babies can talk - but only in their very special "baby language". There must be a universal toddler language because sometimes toddlers do sound as if they are saying something really sensible to us.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is my all-time favourite cartoon. What makes me love this cartoon is that every pony in this cartoon has its own special personality. Because of that, the ponies provide some interesting stories in each episode. Also, the ponies are very adorable. Conversations between the ponies are super funny, sometimes meaningful, too - like when they talk about friendship and things. I always feel better after watching My Little Pony when I've had a fight with my friends.

My favourite cartoon is Disney's Phineas and Ferb. Step-brothers Phineas and Ferb keep inventing crazy things like a time machine or a giant lemonade-making robot. Perry, their pet platypus, is an undercover secret agent out to stop the evil plans of stupid scientist Doofenschmirtz. The boys' sister, Candace, keeps calling her mum back home to get Phineas and Ferb into trouble. But they never get caught as Perry and Doofenschmirtz's battles always destroy the evidence. I love this show.
Talise Tsai, 15, Discovery College
I don't watch much television anymore. But I used to like Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, where imaginary friends become physically real as soon as children think them up. Now I enjoy watching reality shows or competitions more than cartoons. It's good to see all the different contestants taking on one another. It is often very exciting and suspenseful to witness how they cope with the various challenges and interact - especially after winning or losing.

Alvin and the Chipmunks is my favourite cartoon. I am amused by the voices of the three singing chipmunks, Alvin, Simon and Theodore: they are so entertaining and funny! I still really enjoy watching the first film of the series, even though I've seen it before. The way they walk, talk and sing is very appealing. I change my preference about which of the three is my favourite each time I watch it.
