He was just trying to find a nice place to rest!

Shoppers in Thailand were shocked when a monitor lizard made its way into the store and climbed up shelves, knocking over several items in the process while ignoring the panicked customers.

Narumpa Tangsin recorded the video of the 1.8 metre-long lizard in the town of Nakhon Pathom, just outside of Bangkok.

It’s not clear why the lizard crawled into the 7-Eleven, but it could have been looking for food. Asian Monitor lizards usually live in canals and ponds, but a lack of rain the last few months means its habitat has dried up.

No one was hurt (including the lizard) and it didn’t take any food.

A store employee called the police, who brought reptile handlers to catch the baby Godzilla. They were able to safely get it and return it to the wild.

It could have been a blessing: some people in Thailand say monitor lizards are good luck, but the Thai word for them, hia, is also a curse word, according to the Bangkok Post.
