The cast of Ben 10, from left, Christopher Stalley, Khali Grimshaw, Alex Osmond and Paul Holmes, will be hoping to delight Hong Kong audiences with next month's live action stage show
Sometimes he moves like lightning. Other times he breathes fire. He is an ordinary teen with a high-tech watch worth more than a Swiss Rolex.

He is a courageous superhero in tens of millions of children's hearts. His name is Tennyson, Ben Tennyson.

Ben Tennyson, commonly known as Ben 10, is the fictional hero in the American cartoon series, Ben 10, produced by Cartoon Network Studios.

Now Ben 10 is on his way to Hong Kong.

Ben 10 Live - The Power of the Omnitrix is a live action stage performance due to open here on November 11 at the Star Hall in Kowloon Bay.

For anyone who might not know, Ben 10 is a TV series about an ordinary child who has a fantastic watch that gives him super powers.

The show, which premiered in 2005, rocketed into the hearts of tweens across the world.

The plot goes something like this: Ben finds a magical watch, Omnitrix, which enables him to transform into different aliens that possess superpowers.

His allies are his cousin Gwen and grandpa Max, and together they battle the evil Vilgax. Of course, Vilgax wants only one thing {minus} Omnitrix and its power to take over the world; adults may be baffled by the plot, but children love it.

Australian stage director Kym Halpin has decided to revolutionise the television-trapped Ben 10 by bringing him to life. Halpin says fans will recognise many elements from the original TV series, but there's much more to keep audiences entertained.

Additional storylines and two new aliens are sure to keep fans intrigued and eager to find out what happens next.

Christopher Stalley, who stars as the cartoon hero, says the only thing he knew about Ben 10 before taking on the role was from watching his neighbour run around outside playing with Ben 10 toys.

He never imagined it would be so popular. "I typed Ben 10 into Google, and it had a million clicks. It was phenomenal," he says.

Stalley says it is enjoyable playing Ben 10 because, like the character, he also loves a bit of fun and adventure. But, best of all, he says, is the opportunity to see all the young fans who come to the show.

Alex Osmond, who plays the character of Kevin Levin, agrees. "You can hear them scream out characters' names," he says. "That gives us a lot of energy."

Other members of the cast include Khali Grimshaw, who plays Gwen, and Paul Holmes, who plays Max. Special lighting and stage effects will help keep fans' excitement at maximum levels.

Meanwhile, a stunt team from South Africa will dazzle the crowd with their impressive feats. The multi-talented team will be showing off a variety of skills, from martial arts to skateboarding and somersaulting.

Halpin says: "It is going to be a Ben 10 action-packed spectacular."

The show will hit run from November 11 to November 13 at Star Hall, Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Centre. Tickets are on sale now. For further information, go to www.hkticketing.com
