Justice League: War

With perfect timing for a post-CNY treat, Justice League: War, the latest superhero epic from the DC Universe, has just been released. In it, a group of Earth's bravest and boldest come together to fight an evil alien in Justice League: War.

This straight-to-DVD animated feature is based on the Justice League: Origin (2011) comic books by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee. The story follows a group of DC heroes that comes together to fight an evil alien army, who serve at the whim of the ominous Darkseid, one of the most powerful characters in the DC universe.

The movie starts with Green Lantern/ Hal Jordan crossing paths with Batman in Gotham City as they are both trying to work out who is behind a recent run of abductions. CCTV footage suggests that Batman is behind them, but Green Lantern soon learns that's a set-up.

What the pair don't at first realise is that it's not simple case of serial kidnappings, but an alien plot involving mysterious shoe-box-sized devices planted all over the city and country. Once they appreciate they're dealing with extraterrestrial evil, they get in touch with Superman.

As the situation hots up, a ragtag band of heroes including Wonder Woman, Cyborg, The Flash and Captain Marvel come together. Their mission is to defeat not only the invading alien horde, but also the near-omnipotent, super-evil Darkseid - he's so evil, he makes the devil wet himself.
