A Chinese businessman’s terrifying account of brutal Nairobi hotel attack

Islamic extremist gunmen assaulted a luxury hotel and shopping complex in Nairobi, Kenya, taking at least 21 lives during a 20-hour gun battle starting January 15.

Two Chinese colleagues, identified only by their surnames Mao and Ji, were on a short business trip to Kenya when they were trapped in the dusitD2 hotel complex. Ji filmed what happened after he and Mao hid in a hotel room with six other guests and six staff. Mao, who has 10 years of experience working overseas and was caught up in several terror attacks Pakistan, spoke in a phone call about his latest ordeal. Five attackers were killed during the violence, which also sent 28 people to hospital.
