Hong Kong’s Civic Party has disbanded after 17 years as a high-profile opposition group. Party chairman Alan Leong Kah-kit announced the decision on May 27, 2023. Civic Party core members had been charged under the national security law in 2021 and no one came forward to take over its leadership.
