China’s capital Beijing has recorded more than 300 hours of below-freezing temperatures in the weeks leading up to December 24, 2023. Blizzards and freezing temperatures have swept through Beijing, shutting down schools and suspending transport services. Northern China is experiencing one of its most severe cold snaps since the beginning of the month.
