Bicycle graveyards a continuing legacy of China’s bike-sharing business bust

Thousands of abandoned bicycles were seen laying on an open field outside the Chinese city of Shenyan in the northwestern province of Liaoning in April 2021. China’s low cost bike-sharing craze took off in late 2014, but fizzled out in recent years. Some companies have struggled to turn a profit and gone out of business, and survivors have been moving the industry towards more-sustainable growth.
