Former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe ‘showing no vital signs’ after shots heard during speech

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was reportedly unconscious and unresponsive after collapsing following an apparent attack during a speech he was delivering in Nara, Japan on July 8, 2022. Public broadcaster NHK reported that two shots were heard before Abe collapsed, and that a local fire department said he was taken to hospital bleeding and “in a state of cardio-respiratory arrest” – a phrase used in Japan before a feared death can be confirmed by a doctor. A male suspect described as a young or middle-aged male was detained at around 11.30 am local time. Warning: This video includes scenes which may be disturbing to some viewers.
