Racing Incident Report
Race Ten : (191) - BOCHK BOC PAY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
Horse No 2 GRACIOUS EXPRESS (J188) H Bowman For a short distance near the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining a narrow run between JOHANNES BRAHMS and BEAUTY CRESCENT.
Horse No 3 BEAUTY CRESCENT (H334) B Avdulla After being crossed by GRACIOUS EXPRESS near the 900 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from that runner.
BEAUTY CRESCENT was then shifted to the outside of GRACIOUS EXPRESS and raced wide and without cover thereafter.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 KING MILES (J158) C Y Ho When questioned, C Y Ho stated that he had not intended on leading the event but had anticipated taking up a more forward position than previous starts due to a lack of pace in the event.
He said KING MILES jumped well today and when other runners around him did not show the intent to lead, KING MILES led without being pressured to do so.
When questioned regarding his riding on the Home Turn, he stated that when JOHANNES BRAHMS commenced to improve to his outside, he allowed KING MILES to shift away from the rail slightly to ensure his mount was afforded with clear running.
He added he was not of the opinion that he had left sufficient room for a runner to improve to his inside and after the 400 Metres was surprised when he received a call from K Teetan, rider of SILVERY BREEZE when that runner improved to his inside.
C Y Ho was advised that, wherever possible, he should attempt to ride his mounts in a more competitive manner.
Horse No 5 FIND MY LOVE (H110) L Ferraris Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 6 MASTER MASTERMIND (J024) J McDonald Jumped awkwardly.
Approaching the 1200 Metres MAGNIFICENT NINE (A Badel) shifted out when being corrected by its rider, resulting in MASTER MASTERMIND, which was racing keenly, being checked away from MAGNIFICENT NINE.
A Badel was reprimanded.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
As this was the second occasion that MASTER MASTERMIND had bled, the horse is permanently barred from any further racing.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 NEVER TOO SOON (E434) P N Wong Approaching the 50 Metres was steadied away from KING MILES and shifted to that runner's inside to obtain clear running.
Horse No 8 HYPER DRAGON BALL (G450) B Thompson Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 9 SILVERY BREEZE (K057) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 FANTASTIC FUN (J364) M L Yeung Bumped at the start.
Horse No 11 TALE OF PERTH (J469) M F Poon Shortly after the start was bumped by HYPER DRAGON BALL which shifted in.
From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 12 THUNDER BLINK (J019) C L Chau Passing the 1300 Metres was momentarily crowded by MAGNIFICENT NINE which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
Horse No 13 GIDDY UP (J020) A Hamelin Crowded at the start and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 1200 Metres was steadied to avoid MASTER MASTERMIND when that runner was taken out.
Horse No 14 MAGNIFICENT NINE (H433) A Badel Bumped at the start.

Silvery Breeze never went around a horse to get up after a box-seat run for a debut win in Hong Kong. Beauty Crescent was touched off late after poking his head in front 100m out sitting three wide coming to the final bend. He's close to a win with placings in his past two of four starts this term. Johannes Brahms stayed on a close third after tracking the leader King Miles from gate 14. It was a solid effort on his local debut. Gracious Express stayed on fourth best without threatening the top three after a one-out, one-back run. It was another honest performance. Magnificent Nine ran on steadily to just miss the frame after a one-off trip in midfield. He will be a force to reckoned with if he finds his way into Class Four. Never Too Soon whacked on one-paced after settling on the rail in just worse than midfield. He hasn't disgraced in any of his four runs this term but is trying to find a suitable mark. Master Mastermind ran on without threatening from towards the rear. He wasn't good enough with a rise in class.
