Recap by phillip woo
Healthy Happy received a perfectly rated ride in front from Alexis Badel and saluted for his fifth victory in 26 local starts. He has won first up in three of his four campaigns on Hong Kong soil. Favourite Circuit Stellar chased the speed and had his chance but could not reel in the winner. He is as honest as the day is long. Smashed late in betting, The Golden Scenery worked home well following his prominent run to make it close for second. He built on his opening-day win in a lower grade, enjoying carrying a lighter weight in a higher class. Beauty Joy just plodded after his box-seat run. His heavy impost of 135 pounds took its toll. Straight Arron whacked on one-paced over the last 100m after looming as a fleeting chance halfway down the home straight. The stayer did not get the race run to suit him. Racing over a trip much shorter than his ideal distance, he needed the pace to be quicker than it was. Encountered took off from last at the 700m marker but stopped quickly soon after straightening. It was an out-of-character effort from a galloper who won his final three starts last term.
