Favourite Lucky Sweynesse set a good pace in front from gate five, straightened nearly three lengths on top and won geared down. He's now unbeaten in two starts despite a rise in class here and there's clearly more to come from him. Toronado Phantom ran on well from behind midfield to finish a clear-cut second. It was another fine performance giving the winner 14 pounds in a leader's race. Plunged late, Magic Phoenix kept on well for a placing following a speed-tracking run. It was an improved effort fourth-up following a stable change. Shining Gem held his ground after a handy run with cover. It was another honest effort carrying top weight. Prance Dragon made some ground late from towards the rear. It wasn't a bad run in a race run to suit those up front. Newcomer Ace One ran on all right after a rails run behind midfield following a slow start. He'll certainly benefit from the run. Resolute weakened after chasing the speed wide without cover from an outside draw. He's still trying to find a bottom. Happy Daily ran on without ever looking a threat from the rear of the field. He was up in grade and switching to the Valley 1,200m after producing solid form over the 1,400m. The Hulk never got involved ridden cold from a wide draw.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (471) - BAKER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

HAPPY DAILY, which bumped a rail on the way to the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer at the barriers and passed suitable to race.

ACE ONE began only fairly.

BRILLIANT PIONEER began awkwardly and lost ground.

From wide barriers, PRANCE DRAGON, HAPPY DAILY and THE HULK were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

MAGIC PHOENIX lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected.

RESOLUTE travelled wide and without cover until approaching the 600 Metres at which time KINDA COOL was left racing wide and without cover.

Near the 1150 Metres, BRILLIANT PIONEER was momentarily crowded for room between ACE ONE and KINDA COOL which shifted in before being directed back out to relieve the crowding.

After the race, K Teetan stated that making the first turn near the 1000 Metres HAPPY DAILY, which was racing at Happy Valley for the first time tonight, got its head on the side and made the turn awkwardly.

A veterinary inspection of HAPPY DAILY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

LUCKY SWEYNESSE and TORONADO PHANTOM were sent for sampling.
