Where to eat in Hong Kong this June: new restaurant openings and old favourites to try as social dining makes a comeback

As Covid-19 restrictions are relaxed, there is a slew of new places to choose from this month, as well as a few established places with deliciously tempting offerings
As Hong Kong slowly lifts restrictions for crowds and gatherings, a slew of new restaurant openings have sprung up to meet the demand of housebound foodies. There are also a lot of collaborations and special menus at your favourite restaurants to tantalise the most discerning of palates. What a great way to kick off the summer.
New opening: Chaat

Street food and top-shelf hotels collide. Chaat is bringing the cuisine of Central India to the elegant hall of Rosewood Hong Kong. The buzz is there is a trio of authentic tandoori ovens to produce delicious dishes like black pepper chicken tikka, lamb seekh kebab and lobster tikka. For something classic, try chef Manav’s special palak paneer that is made lovingly from scratch.

New opening: Mamma Always Said

Mamma Always Said is the new addition to Peel Street and Meraki Hospitality Group, the dining group behind Bedu. The all-day diner boasts a menu of awesome comfort food that includes home-made XO fried chicken wings, king prawns with chorizo and Manchego and country style ham pressed sandwiches. Happy hour is also a treat where the house negroni is made with tequila, mescal, Punt e Mes, Campari and home-made walnut bitters – a contemporary spin on the classic.
