It’s shaping up to be a good year for A$AP Rocky.

The rapper was recently found not guilty on all charges in a felony assault trial, where he faced up to 24 years in prison for allegedly shooting his former collaborator, A$AP Relli. In court, a relieved Rocky – whose real name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers – embraced his legal team upon hearing the news, and it was hard to miss the gleaming gold timepiece on his wrist: a vintage Patek Philippe Nautilus.

That watch, sure to become a good-luck piece in his luxury watch collection, is a testament to Rocky’s style and approach to watch collecting. He has a deep appreciation for the finer things in life (and the finest of women – here’s looking at you, Rihanna), favouring rare, obscure and niche timepieces that range from the holiest of grail watches to Japanese bargain brands, all reflecting his esoteric sense of style.

Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 3800

Rocky isn’t one to shy away from bold fashion statements (see the undeniably baller Epée grenade watch pendant further down this list), but for his big day in court last month, he opted for something timeless: a vintage Patek Philippe Nautilus 3800.

This mid-size version of the highly sought-after Nautilus was produced from the 1980s to the mid-2000s before being discontinued, making it even more of a grail watch by today’s standards. That rarity only adds to its appeal, not to mention how cool it is to see the OG Nautilus design in a more compact 37.5mm case, compared to the original’s 42mm.

Rocky’s yellow gold watch, as auspicious as it is extravagant, features a black dial, blue baton markers and a date window, and is worth upwards of US$80,000.
