Set for April 16 to 18, Sotheby’s Wine Spring Sale Series turns the focus on Bordeaux and Islay, with wines and spirits expected to fetch a combined sum of up to US$12 million. The upcoming Rare Whisky & Moutai live auction also features a unique Bowmore Archive Cabinet, estimated to sell for roughly US$500,000.

Sotheby’s Wine Spring Sale Series in Hong Kong is set to be one of the auction house’s deepest, and kicks off with a follow-up to last season’s successful sale from businessman Joseph Lau’s private collection.

“Wines from the Cellar of Joseph Lau Part II” will feature another 148 lots of the finest French wines from Lau’s cellar, expected to fetch as much as US$4.5 million (HK$34.5 million). Among the offerings are a historic Château d’Yquem dating to 1865, and over 100 bottles of the fabled Henri Jayer Vosne-Romanée Cros Parantoux.

The second day’s “Finest & Rarest” sale offers 941 lots, estimated to fetch US$4.3 million, of both drinkable classics and rarities, in a diverse selection of formats and vintages, including Liger-Belair La Romanée vintages, as well as a vertical line-up of vintages from Ornellaia’s Archivio Storico.

Day two will also see other Henri Jayer vintages go under the hammer, among them four magnums of Cros Parantoux 1986 and a further 84 lots of Bordeaux, Rhône, Tuscany and Napa wines, from double magnums to 18-litre Melchiors.
