What is Sophie Grégoire Trudeau’s new book about?
Grégoire Trudeau’s book, Closer Together: Knowing Ourselves, Loving Each Other is set for release in April … but if you’re expecting a tell-all about her broken marriage, you’ll be disappointed.
According to Vogue, the book was written before she knew she was going to get divorced, and it focuses on helping readers with themes of “self-knowledge, acceptance and empowerment”.
Grégoire Trudeau touches on topics including her relationship with her parents, feeling lonely growing up, and dealing with an eating disorder in her teens. She interviews a number of experts and has in-depth conversations regarding mental health. She also addresses the issue of “quick assessments”, delving into the snap judgments people have made about her just because she is in the public eye.
So why did Justin Trudeau and Sophie Grégoire Trudeau split?

Their relationship was often referred to as #CoupleGoals, so when Sophie and Justin confirmed in August 2023 that their high profile marriage was ending, it sent shock waves around the world. They have three children together: Xavier, Ella-Grace and Hadrien.
Speaking about the split, she told Elle Canada that she “had to face the truth [and] choose authenticity over attachment”, giving us a hint as to what might have occurred between them.

The author described how she sat with herself before making the decision that she knew would have a long-lasting impact on her family. She said she had a sense of “integrity and congruence” when she reflected on her motives around the split. The former TV anchor also admitted the pair have found ways to “laugh together” throughout the difficult decision.
