Game Awards host and creator Geoff Keighley announced this year’s contenders via live stream on YouTube, Twitter and other social media platforms on November 14.

FromSoftware’s Elden Ring and Guerrilla’s Horizon Forbidden West follow God of War Ragnarok with seven nominations apiece, including game of the year. A Plague Tale: Requiem, Stray and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 are the other contenders for the top award.

The nominations for God of War Ragnarok come right on the heels of its PlayStation debut on November 9. Its predecessor, God of War, won game of the year in 2018 and the God of War series has previously won prizes for game direction and action/adventure game.
