TROUBLE IN RUNNING

KA YING VICTORY (H287) when questioned regarding the horse racing in a forward position, rider stated that due to the racing pattern, in his opinion, had favoured on-pace horses, he was instructed from a wide barrier to go forward. He added that after commencing well, his mount was able to hold a position outside the lead and responded fairly to his riding in the Home Straight. When questioned regarding his riding out of his mount, rider stated that over the concluding stages when the 3rd placegetter shifted out, he was concerned that runner would continue to shift out and, as a precaution, he did not ride his mount out from that point. Trainer confirmed that the instructions were issued on the basis that he felt it would be advantageous to hold a forward position given the manner in which the track had been racing. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 622.
