Racing Incident Report
Race Seven : (584) - THE HONG KONG LIONS CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 SUPER LEGENDS (H364) E C W Wong Slow to begin.
In the early stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 900 Metres got its head up when being checked away from GOLDEN RISE, shifted out and made contact with LUCKY TOUCH.
Horse No 2 GOLDEN RISE (H242) A Badel For a short distance near the 400 Metres was held up for clear running behind CIRCUIT TEN and was shifted to that runner's outside to secure clear running.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 SUPER HIGHWAY (G050) Y L Chung In the middle stages over-raced and near the 800 Metres got its head up when being restrained away from NEW POWER.
Horse No 4 CIRCUIT TEN (G429) M F Poon When racing in a four wide position without cover was ridden forward after the 700 Metres to obtain a three wide position, however, remained racing without cover.
Horse No 5 DEEP PURSUIT (H288) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Horse No 6 LO PAN SPIRIT (J233) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 LUCKY TOUCH (J203) Z Purton Near the 900 Metres was bumped by SUPER LEGENDS and as a result became unbalanced.
After the race, Z Purton reported that due to the pace of the event being run outside of standard time in the early stages, LUCKY TOUCH found it difficult to make up any appreciable ground in the Home Straight, however, he was not too disappointed with its performance in the circumstances.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 MR ENERGIA (J239) H Bowman Near the 400 Metres was hampered and taken wider by GOLDEN RISE.
Horse No 9 AWESOME TREASURE (E435) M L Yeung Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 SUPER CHARIZZARD (J184) B Avdulla From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.
Horse No 11 SUPER GLORY (J025) A Atzeni Throughout the early stages over-raced and near the 900 Metres got its head up when being steadied to avoid LO PAN SPIRIT (H Bentley) which shifted in when not clear.
H Bentley was reprimanded.

Lo Pan Spirit just won a thrilling battle over Awesome Treasure after a pace-stalking run for an upset win on debut. He did manage seconds in two of four lead-up trials. Awesome Treasure wouldn't go down without a fight dictating the pace from gate seven. He's racing well with seconds in three consecutive runs. Super Highway stayed on well after a rails run from midfield for third without threatening the top two. He was able to back up a placing last start. New Power had his chance after a box-seat run. It was another honest performance. Favourite Lucky Touch got going late to finish next best after a wide trip towards the rear. He couldn't build on a debut third but its still early days. Plunged late in betting Super Legends ran on without threatening after a patient ride one from the rear under a 10-pound claimer. He might be ready to tackle 1,400m again. Punted late Super Glory faded after a one-out, one-back run. He's still learning the ropes. Super Charizard beat a few settling last from gate 11.
