Race Three : (534) - WANG TAU HOM HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 CAN'T GO WONG (H087) A Badel Shortly after the start was bumped and became unbalanced.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 FORTUNE PRESIDENT (G054) K Teetan From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 3 NORTHERN BEAST (H233) H Bowman From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 300 Metres became held up for clear running behind BIG TWO and was held up until near the 150 Metres.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 DIAMOND DIAMOND (H189) Z Purton After the race, Z Purton stated that when caught wide in the early stages and the pace of the event eased, he allowed his mount to stride forward to take up a position outside the leader DRAGON DELIGHT.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 ASIAN ONE (E400) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 7 BIG TWO (E310) H Bentley After the 1400 Metres was steadied to avoid DRAGON DELIGHT (Apprentice E C W Wong) which shifted in when not clear and as it was being steadied.
Apprentice Wong was reprimanded and advised that he must provide sufficient clearance when shifting ground.
After the race, H Bentley stated that whilst his instructions were to obtain cover, after being crossed by DRAGON DELIGHT, BIG TWO raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages and refused to settle.

Horse No 9 REGENCY HAPPY STAR (H248) L Hewitson In the early stages raced keenly and near the 1200 Metres was checked to avoid BIG TWO.
On the Home Turn raced tight to the inside of DIAMOND DIAMOND.
Horse No 10 BROTHER PEARL (H030) L Ferraris In the early stages over-raced.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 FOXHUNTER WAY (E296) M F Poon Shortly after the start was bumped and became unbalanced.
After the race, M F Poon could offer no excuse for his mount's failure to run on in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 MASTER OF LUCK (G276) B Avdulla Was a late withdrawal acting on veterinary advice after sustaining wounds to both hind legs whilst being transported to the course.
Before being allowed to race again, MASTER OF LUCK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Can't Go Wong quickened nicely to take control 100m out after settling on the rail behind midfield for a first local win at his 18th start. He relished the downgrade after knocking on the door in three prior starts. Northern Beast had to duck and weave for second after biding his time towards the rear from gate 10. He's improved to place in back-to-back runs following a step up to the Valley 1,650m. Favourite Big Two had every chance after settling in the box seat but whacked on at one pace. Specked late, Dragon Delight grudgingly gave way after turning the final bend two lengths on top with a 10-pound claimer hopping on board. Asian One ran on steadily to finish next best after settling wide with cover behind midfield. He can produce an odd positive run now and then. Regency Happy Star came up one-paced over the final 100m after travelling on the rail in midfield. He had his chance. Brother Pearl made only a mild bid after settling one off the fence in midfield. He seems to perform better at Sha Tin. Hang's Choice got going late without threatening after fading back to last from a tricky gate.
