Recap by phillip woo

Newcomer Divano kept finding plenty after turning the final bend nearly two lengths on top from gate 12 to score in a good time. It was an impressive debut. Punted late Happy For All ran on well for second after a wide trip settling four from the rear. He's well rated on a win last season. Geneva stayed on a non-threatening third after a wide with cover run from midfield. He's placed in each of his three starts but has been costly without a win. Super Bonus scraped the paint after a handy run to just win a four-way battle for fourth. It was his best run of the campaign. Strathbarry weaved a run near the inside from better than midfield to just miss the frame. He's shown progress in his four starts. Must Go only plodded after a prominent run one off the fence. It was another honest effort, but he may be looking for a 1,400m trip. Circuit Ten weakened late to finish next best after rolling forward from a tricky gate to share the lead. He needed the outing first run for new trainer after a tendon injury.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (522) - FURORE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 SPEED SWORD (H397) K De Melo Slow to begin and from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 FUN N GLORY (G003) A Atzeni Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 3 MUST GO (J133) Z Purton A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 CIRCUIT TEN (G429) M F Poon In the early stages over-raced when caught wide and as a result was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the lead near the 700 Metres.

Horse No 5 GENEVA (J114) H Bowman Jumped only fairly and then was crowded shortly after the start.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 IMPERIAL MAGEE (E460) H Bentley Jumped only fairly and then was crowded shortly after the start.

For some distance near the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of FUN N GLORY.

Horse No 7 DIVANO (J142) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 FAMILY FORTUNE (H447) B Shinn From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 9 MASSIVE TALENT (H282) B Avdulla When questioned, B Avdulla stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages and to ensure that he obtained cover.

He added MASSIVE TALENT did not travel well during the event and finished the race off in a disappointing manner.

Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, MASSIVE TALENT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 11 HAPPY FOR ALL (H181) J McDonald Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 STRATHBARRY (H413) C L Chau When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight, C L Chau stated that his intention was to follow one of the favourite runners into the event MUST GO and was reluctant to shift to the outside of that runner after the 400 Metres as this would have resulted in STRATHBARRY being positioned behind CIRCUIT TEN which he felt would not take him into the race.

He added that when positioned behind MUST GO, STRATHBARRY lay in and then became badly held up behind MUST GO approaching the 150 Metres where it continued to lay in until he was able to obtain clear running after the 150 Metres to the inside of MUST GO.

Horse No 13 ISLAND GOLDEN (H018) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Near the 400 Metres improved into a narrow run between SUPER BONUS and STRATHBARRY and then raced tight between the 400 Metres and approaching the 150 Metres.

Near the 150 Metres was then checked when crowded between SUPER BONUS and STRATHBARRY which, after being badly held up behind MUST GO, then shifted in before being corrected by its rider C L Chau.

C L Chau was severely reprimanded.

Horse No 14 GO HERO (H315) H T Mo Jumped only fairly.
