Racing Incident Report
Race Nine : (221) - NATHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 KA YING CHEER (H369) Y L Chung Shifted in at the start, became unbalanced and bumped on the hindquarters.
After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that he was obliged to make use of his mount to cross and lead on KA YING CHEER and as a result KA YING CHEER was left without a finishing effort.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 HOLY LAKE (H260) C Y Ho After the 250 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running to the outside of RIVER VIEWS and then was shifted back to that runner's inside where it secured clear running at the 150 Metres.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 DREAM PURSUER (G241) J McDonald Badly crowded on jumping by KA YING CHEER which shifted in abruptly.
Steadied after the 250 Metres.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 IMPERIAL MAGEE (E460) A Badel Apprentice E C W Wong (RIVER VIEWS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that inside the final 50 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of IMPERIAL MAGEE, resulting in IMPERIAL MAGEE being checked away from the heels of RIVER VIEWS.
Apprentice Wong was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Sunday, 10 December 2023 at Sha Tin.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.
Horse No 6 MEEPMEEP (H234) Z Purton Jumped only fairly.
When questioned, Z Purton stated that at its first race start MEEPMEEP raced greenly and lay out in the Home Straight after making an inside run.
He said today from the 600 Metres his mount hung in and on the Home Turn proved reluctant to shift to the outside of CHILLI BABA.
He added that when placed under pressure in the Home Straight MEEPMEEP continued to hang in which restricted his ability to fully test his mount, particularly when it was racing on the wrong lead leg.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The racing manners of MEEPMEEP were considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, MEEPMEEP will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 FOREVER FOLKS (G463) A Hamelin From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 9 GOLDEN BULL (H019) C L Chau Crowded at the start.
From the 400 Metres until the 250 Metres was badly held up for clear running before being shifted to the outside of MEEPMEEP.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 YEABOI (G372) K De Melo Slow to begin.
From the 350 Metres until the 200 Metres was held up for clear running.
Approaching the 150 Metres was then steadied when crowded between FREE FOAL which shifted out slightly and HOLY LAKE (C Y Ho) which shifted in.
C Y Ho was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 12 KING OF THE COURT (E384) L Ferraris From the 900 Metres was obliged to race wide and without cover when taken out by RIVER VIEWS.
Horse No 13 DRAGON DELIGHT (G395) L Hewitson After the 250 Metres, DRAGON DELIGHT and DREAM PURSUER were steadied when crowded between CHILLI BABA (A Atzeni) which shifted in and IMPERIAL MAGEE (A Badel) which shifted out and away from HOLY LAKE as that runner commenced to shift to the outside of RIVER VIEWS.
Both A Atzeni and A Badel were advised to exercise more care.

Holy Lake eventually kicked into gear to get up 50m out after a prominent run for a second straight win and second following a move to blinkers. Golden Bull dashed well down the outside for second after settling fourth last from a wide draw. He relished a step back in distance after a below par effort trying the Valley 1,650m last start. River Views got swamped late after hitting the front 300m out following a speed-tracking run from gate three. The riding change to a 10-pound claimer nearly worked the oracle. Free Foal stayed on reasonably well after a rails run worse than midfield. He was fitter for two starts. Imperial Magee ran on steadily to finish next best after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He isn't far off a bottom. Yeaboi produced a better effort despite being held up and hampered for a run from the 400m to 100m settling two from the rear after a slow start. Meepmeep produced a grinding effort after a wide with cover trip from behind midfield. He couldn't build on a debut second over 1,200m but it's still early days.
