Race Eight : (174) - CHUKYO HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 WONDER KIT (G455) L Hewitson Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 HOSS (H055) B Avdulla Bumped at the start.
Horse No 3 CAPITAL DELIGHT (H262) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 TOMODACHI KOKOROE (H303) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 COPARTNER AMBITION (E218) A Atzeni K De Melo (SMOKEY BEAR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of COPARTNER AMBITION, resulting in COPARTNER AMBITION being checked.
K De Melo was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 6 December 2023 at Happy Valley.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade
2.
Horse No 6 WINDICATOR FAMILY (H419) L Ferraris Slow to begin.
Horse No 7 GAMEPLAYER ELITE (H356) K Teetan From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 200 Metres was steadied and directed to the outside of COPARTNER AMBITION.
After the race, K Teetan reported that his mount lay in in the Home Straight and proved reluctant to shift to the outside of runners.
Horse No 8 KA YING POWER (H169) Y L Chung Jumped only fairly and then was bumped shortly after the start.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 SMOKEY BEAR (E126) K De Melo Over the concluding stages raced tight between COPARTNER AMBITION and HOSS which shifted out.
Horse No 12 KILINDINI (E236) K C Leung Knuckled over badly on jumping and became unbalanced.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After sitting outside leader Tomodachi Kokoroe from gate five, the well-backed Wonder Kit just got up in the final few strides for a second win over this course and distance from 12 starts. He did it well carrying 135 pounds and should remain competitive off a light weight in a higher grade next start. Tomodachi Kokoroe wouldn't go down without a fight after dictating things from gate one. It was a good effort despite carrying 10 pounds more following a win in Class Four. Favourite Capital Delight ran on steadily from midfield to finish a close third. He's racing well this term. Gameplayer Elite caught the eye to get up for fourth despite having to pull off heels for a clear run 150m out following a patient ride second last from gate 10. He's made a good impression in both local starts. Copartner Ambition ran on well to finish next best after having to check and take hold approaching the 100m from better than midfield. He should have finished closer. Hoss ran on without threatening from towards the rear. Kilindini weakened after chasing the speed wide without cover from gate 12.
