Recap by phillip woo

Favourite A Americ Te Specso overhauled See U Again 50m out after travelling one off the fence worse than midfield to ring up his third win over the course and distance. He had put the writing on the wall last time when he was fourth over 1,000m in this grade. See U Again kept on well for second after stalking the pace and hitting the leading 150m from home. He is always a chance over 1,200m at Happy Valley. Lyrical Motion stayed on for a placing without threatening the top two after getting all the favours prominent on the rail. He is building towards a victory with placings in both of his starts this season. Telecom Speed plugged on reasonably well after rushing forward to chase the leaders three wide without cover 800m out. He is naturally returning to form this term. Sea Sapphire was on his tippy toes 100m from the line after going straight to the front from gate eight. His second effort was better than his first. Island Golden made some ground from towards the rear. He performed OK on his first Happy Valley start since January. Togepi was a non-factor after clipping heels and nearly coming down 1,000m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six : (153) - CHUNG HOM KOK HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 A AMERIC TE SPECSO (H037) Z Purton Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between ROUND THE GLOBE which shifted out slightly from LYRICAL MOTION and EASY SNIP which, after being bumped on the hindquarters by ISLAND GOLDEN, then shifted in when racing tight to the inside of SEE U AGAIN which also shifted in.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 DESERT STAR (H263) K Teetan A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.

Before being allowed to race again, DESERT STAR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 3 TELECOM SPEED (G259) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 4 TOGEPI (G458) Y L Chung When being shifted behind EASY SNIP near the 1000 Metres to obtain cover, struck the heels of EASY SNIP and blundered badly.

Apprentice Y L Chung was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care to ensure that he provides sufficient clearance from runners in front.

Apprentice Y L Chung was fined the sum of $5,000 for using the whip on his mount when it was out of contention.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 ISLAND GOLDEN (H018) M Chadwick Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and was bumped.

Horse No 6 AROMATICA (H437) K C Leung From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 ROUND THE GLOBE (H146) A Atzeni Making the Home Turn shifted out, resulting in its rider, A Atzeni, having to stop riding and correct his mount.

After the race, A Atzeni explained that with blinkers off tonight, from an inside barrier, he was asked to ride ROUND THE GLOBE with cover.

He said ROUND THE GLOBE travelled only fairly in the run and, in his opinion, would be better suited by having blinkers placed back on.

Trainer P F Yiu confirmed the instructions issued and stated that the blinkers were removed from ROUND THE GLOBE as it raced keenly at its last start and he had instructed A Atzeni to ride his mount with cover to allow it to settle.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 9 EASY SNIP (G211) C L Chau Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start.

Taken wider on the Home Turn.

Horse No 10 SEE U AGAIN (G247) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 STORMTROUPER (E100) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly.

Near the 1000 Metres was steadied away from TOGEPI.
