Recap by phillip woo

Chill Chibi overcame tiring Chrysos hampering him to come on strongly near the inside and win going away. It was his second victory from three starts and Danny Shum Chap-shing produced an excellent training performance for his galloper to win off a 273-day injury-induced absence. Escape Route came from near last down the outside to grab second. He is not easy to get right. Tourbillon Prince ran on nicely to fill a placing after copping interference in the middle stages and enduring a very wide trip. He has caught the eye on his past two outings since switching to Happy Valley's 1,650m and should salute soon. Punted late, All Beauty ran on from worse than midfield to finish the next best. He could bob up at any moment after filling the frame in both of his races this campaign. Ivy League tired late after poking his head in front 200m out. It was an OK effort carrying more weight following his last-start win. Favourite Outgate stopped 100m out after Chrysos pressured him for the lead in the early stages. Plunged late, Frantanck made some ground from towards the rear without threatening the placegetters.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight : (136) - FIFE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 MAJESTIC COLOUR (H124) K C Leung Near the 800 Metres, CHRYSOS commenced to give ground, resulting in MAJESTIC COLOUR being shifted to that runner's outside.

After the race, K C Leung stated that with the fast pace in the early stages and his mount carrying top weight of 135 lbs, it was under pressure from the 600 Metres and failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight.

The performance of MAJESTIC COLOUR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, MAJESTIC COLOUR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 OUTGATE (H113) Y L Chung When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to endeavour to cross runners to his inside.

He said as the pace of the event was run faster than standard in the early stages, OUTGATE was then unable to finish the race off strongly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 ESCAPE ROUTE (E273) B Avdulla Near the 600 Metres was bumped and taken wider by CHILL CHIBI.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 9 FAMILY FOLKS (D505) A Hamelin Apprentice Y L Chung (OUTGATE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1400 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of RED MAJESTY, resulting in RED MAJESTY being taken in onto SILVER SONIC, causing SILVER SONIC, FAMILY FOLKS and IVY LEAGUE being badly crowded for room and FAMILY FOLKS then having to be checked away from RED MAJESTY and further resulting in SILVER SONIC shifting out, causing TOURBILLON PRINCE to be checked away from the heels of SILVER SONIC.

Apprentice Chung was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 22 November 2023 at Happy Valley.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record.
