Recap by phillip woo

Telecom Dragon quickened nicely to just collar Regent Glory after working into the clear 150m out from behind midfield to ring up a first win at his fourth start. Regent Glory did everything right but get the win after surging to the lead 150m out following a speed-chasing run. He can produce a good run now and then. Favourite Ka Ying Cheer grudgingly gave way after clearing to the lead 1,000m out from a wide draw. He ran well carrying top weight from a wide draw. Punted late Talents Supremo ran on well for fourth without threatening the top three after getting posted wide without cover beyond midfield from a wide draw. He might be close to a bottom. Sonic Boom made ground late without menacing after a patient ride third last from a tricky gate. It wasn't a bad effort but he's still a work in progress. Nicetobemet made some ground late down the outside ridden near last from gate 14. He was reported to have bled after the run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (102) - CYCLING 1200M HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 KA YING CHEER (H369) M L Yeung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 FANCY STAR (H428) L Currie Was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event, hung out in the middle stages and shifted ground on the Home Turn.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of FANCY STAR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, FANCY STAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial around a bend in Hong Kong and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 4 GALLANT GOODY (H434) A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly and was then crowded by CHOICERUS which shifted out.

Approaching the 50 Metres was shifted to the outside of NICETOBEMET to continue into clear running.

Horse No 5 UNIVERSAL PURSUIT (H286) L Hewitson Was noted to have blood in its mouth whilst in the saddling stalls, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

After the race, L Hewitson stated that his mount raced greenly throughout the event but was still somewhat disappointing.

Horse No 6 SPEEDY FORTUNE (H097) M F Poon After the race, M F Poon stated that his mount would derive benefit from today's race experience but could offer no other explanation for his mount's performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 TELECOM DRAGON (H322) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 DAN ATTACK (H317) A Badel When questioned regarding his riding, A Badel advised that his instructions were to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages as DAN ATTACK had not performed well last preparation when it was ridden in a forward position.

He said as a consequence from the start he elected to shift DAN ATTACK behind runners in the early stages where he obtained a midfield position with cover behind ISLAND GOLDEN.

He stated that DAN ATTACK raced a little keenly when ISLAND GOLDEN was steadied in front of him at the 800 Metres and when placed under pressure in the early part of the Home Straight DAN ATTACK responded in a one-paced manner.

He added that as a result he was not able to take advantage of a run that developed between ISLAND GOLDEN and SPEEDY FORTUNE near the 300 Metres and he then elected to shift DAN ATTACK to the outside to secure clear running.

He further stated that, in his view, DAN ATTACK would derive benefit from today's race experience and would also be advantaged by being stepped up in distance at its next race start.

Trainer J Richards confirmed the instructions issued and the reasons as to why such instructions were issued.

A veterinary inspection of immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

Horse No 10 SONIC BOOM (H144) A Hamelin Slow to begin.

Horse No 11 NICETOBEMET (H094) M Chadwick From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.

Before being allowed to race again, NICETOBEMET will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 12 REGENT GLORY (E323) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 13 CHOICERUS (H029) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly and shifted out.

In the middle stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 800 Metres was steadied away from TELECOM DRAGON.

For a short distance approaching the 400 Metres was held up for clear running behind TELECOM DRAGON.
