Recap by phillip woo

Imperial Magee showed a good turn of foot after a patient ride one from the rear to score his first Hong Kong victory on his 10th local start. He ran on well for fourth two runs ago and relished his switch to the all-weather track. Mega Bonus finished well after his wide run with cover behind midfield to edge favourite Magic Supreme for second place. He is not easy to get right, but he enjoyed his transition to the dirt. Magic Supreme gave way after leading from gate three and turning the final bend two lengths on top. With placings in his past two starts, he is a winner waiting to happen. Red Desert made some ground from midfield to fill the frame. At this level, he is a well-rated galloper. Mr Valiant dashed late from near the rear to finish next best. It was a better effort on his return to the surface. Summit Cheers had his chance after his rail run from midfield. He is better on turf than dirt. I Give ran on from behind midfield without threatening. He has finished thereabouts in his past two races after almost making every yard in a March contest. Handsome Rebel had no more to offer 150m out following his pace-stalking run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (650) - PIPER'S HILL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Apprentice E C W Wong (THE MULTIPLIER) was reprimanded for weighing out with the incorrect silks.

MR MAJESTIC knuckled over on jumping and became unbalanced.

I GIVE was crowded at the start between SUMMIT CHEERS and MAGIC SUPREME which shifted out, resulting in I GIVE being taken out and then making contact with SUMMIT CHEERS.

MEGA BONUS began only fairly and raced wide and without cover from the 700 Metres.

THE MULTIPLIER was slow to begin and despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to muster sufficient pace to take up a more forward position.

Approaching the 1000 Metres, I GIVE, which was racing ungenerously, was steadied when crowded between MR MAJESTIC which shifted out slightly and SUMMIT CHEERS (H Bowman) which shifted in.

H Bowman was advised to exercise more care.

For some distance after this incident, I GIVE continued to race ungenerously, got its head up and refused to settle.

Passing the 600 Metres, TURBO POWER was momentarily crowded by I GIVE which shifted in.

RED DESERT was briefly held up on straightening.

Approaching the 200 Metres, TURBO POWER became held up behind HANDSOME REBEL when that runner commenced to give ground.

As a result, TURBO POWER was steadied away from the heels of HANDSOME REBEL and did not obtain clear running until the 150 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of GLORY BO BO immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.

A veterinary inspection of THE MULTIPLIER and TURBO POWER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

MAGIC SUPREME, IMPERIAL MAGEE and MEGA BONUS were sent for sampling.
