Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (347) - CHATER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters
LIFE IS GOOD shifted in on jumping and bumped ISLAND GOLDEN.
LIFE IS GOOD then shifted out and bumped MAGIC TORONADO which became unbalanced.
LIFE IS GOOD then travelled keenly for some distance approaching and passing the 700 Metres.
Passing the 700 Metres, HIGH RISE SOLDIER was steadied away from the heels of ISLAND GOLDEN which got its head on the side and lay in.
Passing the 300 Metres, FLYING DRAGON was shifted to the inside of SMOKEY BEAR to continue improving.
FLYING DRAGON was then checked away from the heels of SUPER AXIOM passing the 150 Metres and was shifted to the outside of that horse passing the 100 Metres to obtain clear running.
Throughout the race, SPECIAL M travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, Z Purton stated that after beginning well GORGEOUS VITALITY initially travelled well in the early stages.
He said after the 500 Metres GORGEOUS VITALITY did not travel as strongly as he had hoped and after being shifted to the outside of HARMONY N BLESSED at the entrance to the Straight became unbalanced, shifted out and bumped SPECIAL M.
He said when riding GORGEOUS VITALITY out, the horse dipped approaching the 150 Metres and he became concerned regarding the horse's action.
He said for this reason he put the whip down but continued to ride his mount out hands and heels to the end of the race.
He added after the race the horse then felt sound in its action.
A veterinary inspection of GORGEOUS VITALITY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Before being allowed to race again, GORGEOUS VITALITY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After SPECIAL M was bumped by GORGEOUS VITALITY passing the 300 Metres, CALIFORNIA DEEPLY was directed out away from the heels of SPECIAL M in consequence.
A veterinary inspection of HIGH RISE SOLDIER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PRETTY QUEEN PRAWN and CALIFORNIA DEEPLY were sent for sampling.

Addition to Racing Incidents Report of 15 January 2023 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 2 (331) Passing the 50 Metres, M F Poon (STAR OF YUEN LONG) dropped his right rein.

Trainer K W Lui was fined the sum of $5,000 following PODIUM (H173) incorrectly carrying the saddle cloth assigned to SILVER SONIC (H171) on the Small All Weather Track at Conghua Racecourse during track work on the morning of Wednesday, 18 January 2023.
SILVER SONIC carried the correct saddle cloth when working on the same morning.

Pretty Queen Prawn just held off the fast-finishing favourite California Deeply after hitting the front 150m out following a pace-stalking run for a third win from six starts over the Valley 1,000m this term. He will remain in the grade and can win again. California Deeply zipped home late to make it close after making his run from towards the rear. He lost nothing in defeat carrying a big weight after back-to-back wins. Harmony N Blessed kept on gamely for third after punching the breeze in third. It was a solid return to the races this season after fetlock surgery. Special M ran on well for fourth after getting posted wide without cover from behind midfield. He is honest as the day is long over this Valley trip. Gorgeous Vitality made a steady bid through the middle to finish next best after a one-off-the-fence trip from midfield. Punted late, Flying Dragon ran on fairly well after switching outside a tiring Super Axiom 100m out following a patient ride three from the rear. It was a better effort on his past few with a return to the Valley. Smokey Bear kept on OK after a prominent run along the fence. He is still acclimatising.
