Street Scream shot clear 100m out after a handy run along the fence to ring up a third straight win. He's really flying and can't be ignored up in grade off a light weight. Cobhfield came on strongly down the outside from behind midfield and one off the fence to grab second at huge odds. It was a vastly-improved effort second-up and first at the Valley following colic surgery. Favourite Winning Icey weaved a run near the inside to fill a placing travelling behind midfield on the fence. It was another pleasing effort carrying more weight following a third straight win. Punted late Solid Impact just finished out of the placing after briefly finding the front 130m out chasing the speed one off in third from a wide draw. It was a good effort first run back after a splint bone injury. Fancied late in betting, All Beauty was doing some nice work late down the outside after making his run one from the rear. He needed the outing following lameness and back pain in March. Compassion Spirit just held his ground travelling one-off in midfield. He's just not good enough at this level.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (139) - ZHUHAI HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

ALL BEAUTY was crowded for room on jumping between WINNING ICEY which was taken out by STREET SCREAM and COBHFIELD which got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.

In the early stages, POWER KOEPP was steadied to obtain cover.

After travelling a short distance, MR MAJESTIC shifted in and bumped FLYING BONUS.

Also after travelling a short distance, STRADALE, which was being ridden along, raced tight between SOLID IMPACT which shifted out away from MR MAJESTIC and MAGIC PHOENIX which shifted in.

MR MAJESTIC and SOLID IMPACT raced tight passing the 1100 Metres.

Approaching the 800 Metres, COMPASSION SPIRIT was bumped by STRADALE which shifted in.

Passing the 800 Metres, MR MAJESTIC race tight inside SOLID IMPACT which shifted in.

After the 500 Metres, STRADALE and MR MAJESTIC raced tight as MR MAJESTIC shifted out to follow SOLID IMPACT.

STRADALE and MR MAJESTIC then bumped near the 400 Metres.

After the 300 Metres, COMPASSION SPIRIT and STRADALE bumped.

Then after the 250 Metres, STRADALE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of MR MAJESTIC which shifted out.

Passing the 200 Metres, LUCKY GOLD was awkwardly placed behind FLYING BONUS when held up for clear running behind that horse and after the 200 Metres was shifted to the inside of FLYING BONUS to continue improving.

At the 150 Metres, MR MAJESTIC shifted in and bumped COMPASSION SPIRIT.

POWER KOEPP was unable to obtain clear running over about the final 100 Metres and because of this was not able to be properly tested.

After the race, K C Leung reported that after being ridden positively in the early stages from the outside barrier, MAGIC PHOENIX would not relax in the middle stages.

A veterinary inspection of MR MAJESTIC and STRADALE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

WINNING ICEY, STREET SCREAM and COBHFIELD were sent for sampling.

GENERAL:

1.

26 October 2022 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 2 (122) The Stewards today decided to question Z Purton regarding his riding of RUN DES RUN in this race over about the final 900 Metres.

Z Purton stated that after the 1000 Metres he became aware that JOLLY FOREVER was being ridden to improve its position from behind RUN DES RUN, however, as that horse was being hard ridden to improve its position passing the 800 Metres, he was concerned that JOLLY FOREVER would not continue with its forward move and not able to take RUN DES RUN into the race.

He said he was also concerned given that JOLLY FOREVER was being ridden along at the relevant time, it would be easy for horses in advance of JOLLY FOREVER to shift out, taking JOLLY FOREVER wider which would have been detrimental to the chances of RUN DES RUN if he was to follow that horse.

He said he was therefore concerned that he may have to make the turn after the 700 Metres very wide which would not allow RUN DES RUN with the opportunity to finish the race off.

He said when GOLD COMET shifted out to follow JOLLY FOREVER near the 700 Metres, he immediately improved to that horse's inside and commenced to follow GO BALLISTIC rounding the turn.

He said GO BALLISTIC was shifted to the outside of JOLLY FOREVER near the 500 Metres and as that horse was commencing to improve into the race, he felt that this would provide RUN DES RUN with a horse to follow into the Home Straight.

He added that after GO BALLISTIC shifted to the outside of OH BRAVO approaching the 400 Metres, he expected that horse to continue forward which would allow RUN DES RUN clear running rounding the Home Turn.

He said however that despite being ridden along GO BALLISTIC did not improve sufficiently to be able to shift to the outside of OH BRAVO and this resulted in RUN DES RUN being held up for clear running on entering the Home Straight at which time RUN DES RUN was able to improve between GO BALLISTIC and GOLD COMET.

He said whilst RUN DES RUN was not able to obtain clear running rounding the Home Turn, given the manner in which JOLLY FOREVER and GOLD COMET failed to finish their races off in the Straight, he believed that the possibility of being taken very wide when working around horses rounding the turn after the 700 Metres would not have allowed RUN DES RUN the opportunity to finish the race off strongly.

Racing Laboratory tests of RAINBOW LIGHT, LEGION OF MERIT, MORE THAN ENOUGH, LUCKY ARCHANGEL, HERCULES, GOLD GOLD BABY, SERGEANT PEPPER, MELBOURNE HALL, HERO STAR, AMIGOS GIGGLE, EXCEPTIONAL NICE, MY INTELLIGENT, EXCELLENT PEERS, ATULLIBIGEAL, STORM LEGEND, AMAZING ONE PLUS, RISING FROM ASHES, FLYING ACE, GALLANT WAKING and YO BEAUTY (19.10.22) proved negative.
