Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Wellington was too good after shooting to the lead 200m out from a one-off run in midfield to defend his title in this race. He's won his past three and cemented himself as the top sprinter in town. Computer Patch kept on gamely to just hold second after tracking leader Kurpany from gate one. It was his best run of the season at just his third start following a stable change. Sky Field found a couple too good and had every chance to run them down despite getting held up until the 300m following a patient ride two from the back. Super Wealthy ran on reasonably well from behind midfield to just miss a place. It was another honest performance. Hot King Prawn kept on evenly after getting held up for a run near the inside until the 200m travelling fore of midfield. He's beyond his better days. Well backed late, Sight Success weakened over the last 100m after chasing the speed one off the fence. He had no excuses.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (609) - THE CHAIRMAN'S SPRINT PRIZE - Class G1 - 1200Meters

MASTER EIGHT was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (elevated temperature).

Before being allowed to race again, MASTER EIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

HOT KING PRAWN and KURPANY brushed on jumping.

From an outside barrier, LUCKY EXPRESS was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

Approaching the 1100 Metres, STRONGER was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY EXPRESS when being ridden along in an attempt to improve its position after being slow to begin.

Near the 350 Metres, as STRONGER was attempting to shift to the outside of LUCKY PATCH, LUCKY PATCH got its head on the side and shifted out away from SKY FIELD which, after initially being directed out by SUPER WEALTHY, then shifted out further away from that horse.

This resulted in STRONGER being checked away from the heels of LUCKY PATCH.

As the Stewards were of the opinion that STRONGER had not properly established running to the outside of LUCKY PATCH and that LUCKY PATCH had shifted out away from SKY FIELD, no further action was taken.

In this incident, LUCKY EXPRESS was bumped by STRONGER.

Approaching the 300 Metres, HOT KING PRAWN, which was held up for clear running, was checked away from the heels of COMPUTER PATCH.

SUPER WEALTHY had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 300 Metres.

Throughout the race, LUCKY PATCH travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of LUCKY PATCH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

WELLINGTON and COMPUTER PATCH were sent for sampling.
