Recap by phillip woo

Early favourite Super Mission ran on strongly to take control 50m out after a patient ride fourth last from a tricky gate for an overdue win after filling the frame in four of five other starts this term. He's racing well and should remain competitive up in grade off a light weight. Hercules finished strongly down the outside for second ridden cold from gate 12. He's a winner waiting to happen. Well backed late, Durham Star ran on nicely for third after settling second last from gate 11. It was another solid effort carrying more weight following a win. Peak To Peak ended third after briefly hitting the front 150m out following a handy run on the fence. He had no excuse but isn't far off a bottom. So Awesome held his ground after finding a spot in the one-one from a wide draw. It wasn't a bad effort but he appears to be on his mark following a win two runs back. Well backed to jump favourite, Whiskey Neat wasn't good enough after looming a winning chance 150m out following a one-off trip in midfield. He's not far off a bottom. Oversubscribed weakened 150m out after emerging with the lead from gate one. The change in tactics backfired.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (598) - TIU KENG LENG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

AURORA HERO was crowded for room on jumping between WHISKEY NEAT and HAPPY MATADOR, both of which shifted out.

HANDSOME GUYS shifted out on jumping and bumped HAPPY SOUL which in turn shifted out, resulting in SUPER MISSION and MASTER OF LUCK being hampered.

From the outside barriers, DURHAM STAR and HERCULES were shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.

Making the first turn near the 1050 Metres, OVERSUBSCRIBED shifted out and bumped PEAK TO PEAK.

WHISKEY NEAT, which was being steadied to obtain cover behind PEAK TO PEAK, was inconvenienced in consequence.

Near the 750 Metres, SUPER MISSION was momentarily crowded for room inside MASTER OF LUCK which shifted in before being directed back out to relieve the crowding.

SUPER MISSION was then awkwardly placed behind MASTER OF LUCK after being crossed by that horse passing the 700 Metres.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres, SUPER MISSION shifted out marginally.

DURHAM STAR (L Hewitson), which was following SUPER MISSION, attempted to improve inside the heels of that horse where there was insufficient room, resulting in DURHAM STAR being steadied away from the heels of SUPER MISSION and shifting in which caused AURORA HERO to be crowded.

L Hewitson was told to ensure that he exercises due care when attempting to improve into tight runs to avoid causing interference to either his horse or to other runners.

Passing the 400 Metres, HAPPY MATADOR raced close to the heels of PEAK TO PEAK.

MASTER OF LUCK was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn.

Passing the 300 Metres, HANDSOME GUYS raced tight inside SO AWESOME which shifted in.

Passing the 200 Metres, PEAK TO PEAK shifted out and inconvenienced OVERSUBSCRIBED and HAPPY SOUL.

HAPPY MATADOR, which was following HAPPY SOUL, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse in consequence.

Approaching the 50 Metres, OVERSUBSCRIBED, which was giving ground, got its head on the side and shifted in away from HAPPY SOUL and brushed the hindquarters of AURORA HERO which then got its head on the side and shifted out, resulting in OVERSUBSCRIBED being steadied when crowded for room.

Approaching the 100 Metres, MASTER OF LUCK was steadied when improving inside SO AWESOME which shifted in marginally under pressure.

When questioned, J Moreira stated that as WHISKEY NEAT had finished the race off satisfactorily at its last start when ridden further back in the field than had been anticipated, he was asked to ride the horse in a similar manner tonight.

He said in the early stages he steadied WHISKEY NEAT to obtain a trailing position behind PEAK TO PEAK and WHISKEY NEAT travelled very well in the early and middle stages.

He added that rounding the Home Turn he shifted his mount to the outside of runners and WHISKEY NEAT quickened well, however, over the concluding stages its run ended and the horse finished the race off only fairly.

A veterinary inspection of OVERSUBSCRIBED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

WHISKEY NEAT, SUPER MISSION and HERCULES were sent for sampling.
