Recap by phillip woo

Multimore gave a cheeky sight under an all-out ride from Dylan Mo Hin-tung to win a thrilling battle with Viva Mama in the last 150m after clearing to the lead 800m out. It was a great training feat by Benno Yung Tin-pang to nurse him back to top health following a fetlock injury in May. Plunged late, Viva Mama kept plugging away after stalking the leader from a wide gate to just miss by a nose. He can give a good sight now and then. Favourite Raging Blaze ran on late to just take third without menacing the top two after a deep run with cover behind midfield. It was another honest effort but he requires a longer trip. E Honey finished well down the outside to nearly place after settling second last from an outside draw. He's racing well at the moment and the 1,000m was just too short. Universal Crown made some ground near the inside after a patient ride towards the rear. He proved a win two back over this trip was not a fluke but the big weight took its toll. Split Of A Second ran on with menacing after a one-off run in midfield. It was a better run but he prefers a longer trip. Viva Chef couldn't turn it up another gear after a one-out, one-back run. He continues to disappoint this campaign.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (425) - WALNUT HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters

RED BRICK GLORY was slow to begin.

UNIVERSAL CROWN and GARLIC HERO brushed at the start.

UNIVERSAL CROWN was then crowded for room a short distance after the start between GARLIC HERO and SPLIT OF A SECOND, both of which shifted ground.

In this incident, SPLIT OF A SECOND became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by UNIVERSAL CROWN.

From the outside barriers, ISLAND SUNSHINE and E HONEY were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

RAGING BLAZE was also steadied shortly after the start to obtain cover.

Passing the 650 Metres, UNIVERSAL CROWN was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SPLIT OF A SECOND which itself was racing tight inside SCHOLAR which at this time was left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the 500 Metres, UNIVERSAL CROWN raced close to the heels of SPLIT OF A SECOND.

Passing the 300 Metres, UNIVERSAL CROWN was directed to the inside of SPLIT OF A SECOND to obtain clear running.

Also passing the 300 Metres, VIVA CHEF and SCHOLAR bumped as VIVA CHEF shifted out to improve between VIVA MAMA and SCHOLAR.

After the 300 Metres, SPLIT OF A SECOND and RAGING BLAZE raced tight as SPLIT OF A SECOND improved into running between RAGING BLAZE and SCHOLAR.

Approaching the 250 Metres, RED BRICK GLORY was shifted out away from the heels of SURE WINNER.

Close to the finishing line, ISLAND SUNSHINE was awkwardly placed behind RAGING BLAZE and E HONEY and because of this was not ridden out all the way to the end of the race.

After the race, K C Leung reported that GARLIC HERO was making an abnormal breathing noise in the Straight when under pressure.

A veterinary inspection of GARLIC HERO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

RAGING BLAZE, MULTIMORE and VIVA MAMA were sent for sampling.
