In a three-horse thriller Crossford timed things perfectly to get up by a whisker to just deny firming favourite Captain Win for the win after three back run on the fence. He relished a return to the course and distance of a win two runs back. Captain Win kept plugging away after a one-out, one-back run to just miss. It was another good effort carrying top weight. Infinite Power just went a couple noses short of going wire-to-wire after leading from gate two. He's an effective front-runner up to a mile. Mr Ascendency ran on strongly near the outside to add value to the quartet but without menacing the top-three after straightening two from the rear. It was a much-improved second-up effort. Ode To Joy kept on reasonably well after going forward from a wide draw to stalk the speed one off in second. It was a pleasing debut effort. Super Dynamite ran on without menacing down the outside after settling deep towards the rear from a wide gate. He has improved in his past three starts and can bob up at any moment. Perfect To Great gradually faded after a box-seat run. He's not good enough off his current mark. Copartner Elites was restless in the gate and withdrawn by order of the stewards on vet advice.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (382) - LOVES ONLY YOU HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Meters

After being loaded into the barriers, COPARTNER ELITES reared and got its left front leg into the adjoining stall for some time.

COPARTNER ELITES was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was not suitable to race.

Acting on this advice, COPARTNER ELITES was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, COPARTNER ELITES will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

ZOOM BOOM shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of FUNCTION PATCH which became unbalanced and shifted out, resulting in ZOOM BOOM also becoming unbalanced.

After this, from a wide barrier, ZOOM BOOM was steadied and shifted across behind runners.

From wide barriers, SUPER DYNAMITE and AWE were steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.

After travelling a short distance, INFINITE POWER and PERFECT TO GREAT brushed.

Passing the 1500 Metres, GOLDEN SPECTRUM was inconvenienced by MR ASCENDENCY which shifted out and away from BEAUTY NOVA.

After the 1200 Metres, LOOKING COOL was left racing wide and without cover.

MR ASCENDENCY was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 400 Metres was shifted out a number of horses to obtain clear running.

MR ASCENDENCY then shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY NOVA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

CROSSFORD and CAPTAIN WIN were sent for sampling.
