Late-fancied Voyage Star kept on gamely to just hold off the late surge of outsider Lady First for the win after rolling forward three deep from gate nine to shade favourite Super Mission for the lead 700m out. He's done well to win twice this term. Lady First nearly caused an upset with a move down the outside after a wide with cover run beyond midfield. He hasn't disgraced in his six prior starts. Lightly-raced Salutation stayed on for a placing after a prominent run on the fence. He shown steady progress in his three starts this term. Favourite Super Mission plugged on one-paced to finish just out of the top three after dictating the early run along the inside. He's honest but limited. Red Brick Fighter kept on evenly after getting left wide without cover fore of midfield from the 750m. He's shown a bit more spark in his past two of six starts this term and may be near a bottom. Amigos Giggle made only a mild bid after a one-off trip better than midfield. He's a maiden and still trying to find the right mark. Stormtrouper only plodded when asked for an effort after a wide with cover run in midfield. The rise in trip and switch to Sha Tin backfired after some pleasing Valley form. He didn't get the trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (377) - SIU SAI WAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

After being loaded into the barriers, FUN N GLORY became fractious and got down under the front gates before galloping riderless for a considerable distance.

Acting on veterinary advice that FUN N GLORY was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, FUN N GLORY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Whilst FUN N GLORY was being recaptured, all horses which had been loaded into the barriers were removed.

After being recaptured, FUN N GLORY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that there were no significant findings.

STORMTROUPER and SUPER MISSION brushed at the start.

WISDOM PATCH shifted in at the start and bumped SWIFT SPIRIT.

From wide barriers, THE MULTIPLIER and JUBILATION were steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.

After initially being ridden along from a wide barrier, PEAK TO PEAK was steadied passing the 1300 Metres to obtain cover when racing wide.

After travelling a short distance, GOLDEN BOLT and LADY FIRST were crowded for room inside RED BRICK FIGHTER (L Currie) which got its head on the side and shifted in.

LADY FIRST was then steadied approaching the 1300 Metres when crowded for room inside RED BRICK FIGHTER which was taken in by VOYAGE STAR (A Badel) which was then directed out to relieve the crowding.

Both L Currie and A Badel were reprimanded and told in similar circumstances to exercise more care than they did on this occasion to prevent causing interference to other runners.

Passing the 1000 Metres, WISDOM PATCH raced close to the heels of STORMTROUPER which was being steadied to obtain cover behind AMIGOS GIGGLE.

For some distance approaching and passing the 900 Metres, AMIGOS GIGGLE raced close to the heels of GOLDEN BOLT when travelling keenly and near the 550 Metres was again very awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOLDEN BOLT.

At the 800 Metres, both RED BRICK FIGHTER and LADY FIRST were left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the 300 Metres, AMIGOS GIGGLE was directed to the inside of GOLDEN BOLT to obtain clear running.

Close to the finishing line, RED BRICK FIGHTER raced tight outside the heels of SALUTATION.

After the race, Z Purton was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of STORMTROUPER which he said weakened in the Straight after being placed under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn.

A veterinary inspection of STORMTROUPER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUPER MISSION, VOYAGE STAR and LADY FIRST were sent for sampling.
