Recap by phillip woo

Early favourite Spicy Grill let down nicely from behind midfield to win going away near the 100m. He's perfect in two starts over this Valley trip and don't see why he can't hold his own up in grade off a light weight. Viva Mama kept plugging away to just hold second after working to the lead from gate six. He makes his own luck in front and found one too good on this occasion. Sunny And Gold made a steady bid along the inside from midfield to make it close for second. It was an improved effort at his second start in the grade. Alloy King kept on one-paced after a box-seat run. He went OK carrying more weight following a last-start win at Sha Tin. Who Loves The Ace plugged on one-paced after travelling effectively one-out, one-back. It was an improved effort following a downgrade after misfiring on opening day. Class dropper Pakistan Zindabad ran on without menacing after settling third last from a middle draw. He's gone all right in two of three starts after a stable change. Plunged late to jump co-favourite Mister Arm didn't find much when asked for an effort travelling towards the inside following a sluggish start. He requires a longer trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (31) - NAM FUNG HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

ALLOY KING and VIVA MAMA bumped at the start.

WHO LOVES THE ACE shifted out on jumping and inconvenienced XIANG LAN QI.

PAKISTAN ZINDABAD and HAPPY JAI JAI were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

From the outside barrier, SUNNY SMILE was also steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

After travelling a short distance, SMILING FACE raced tight inside SUNNY AND GOLD which itself was racing tight inside ALLOY KING.

This resulted in SMILING FACE shifting in and bumping SPICY GRILL.

After shifting to the inside of VIVA MAMA passing the 300 Metres, SUNNY AND GOLD raced tight inside that horse passing the 250 Metres.

Passing the 250 Metres, SUNNY SMILE momentarily raced tight inside MISTER ARM which got its head on the side and shifted in before being shifted out to relieve the tightening to SUNNY SMILE.

When questioned, H N Wong stated that it was intended for MISTER ARM to obtain a forward position and lead if possible.

He said prior to the start being effected MISTER ARM was standing satisfactorily, however, when the gates opened the horse lifted its front feet off the ground, bumped the inside of its barrier and was then slow to begin.

He said this resulted in MISTER ARM racing back in the field tonight.

He said when required to race back in the field, MISTER ARM travelled reasonably in the early and middle stages and then finished off the race fairly in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of MISTER ARM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of TIGERLAD, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, TIGERLAD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of TIGERLAD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

MISTER ARM, SPICY GRILL and VIVA MAMA were sent for sampling.
