Recap by phillip woo

Beauty Rush never looked back after leading from a wide gate to land a betting plunge. It was a well rated run in front by jockey Vagner Borges. Punted late Invincible Missile ran on well from midfield to finish a close second. Circuit Three came with a bold run late down the outside to just miss second after settling second last following a slow start. It was a big run first-up following a lameness issue in June. Thinkin' Big stuck on well for fourth after a wide without cover run near the speed from gate 14. It was a big run following a suspensory injury in June. Super Star ran on to just miss the frame after a patient ride third from the rear. He's naturally come on from a 1,200m defeat last month. Awe made some ground without menacing from behind midfield. He'd be better suited in a regular Class Three test. Noble Steed was another to find this extended band Class Three too rich. He came up flat after looming a hope 200m out following a midfield run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (192) - PANASONIC IH COOKER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters

CIRCUIT THREE (C Y Ho) was slow to begin.

After the race, C Y Ho reported that his saddle shifted back on jumping.

THE CROWN began awkwardly, shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of AWE which became unbalanced.

ALCARI shifted out at the start and made contact with TURIN REDSTAR which was taken out onto A A AGILITY which was inconvenienced.

A A AGILITY raced ungenerously approaching and passing the 1200 Metres.

After the 700 Metres, TURIN REDSTAR was left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the 300 Metres, CIRCUIT THREE was shifted out away from the heels of SUPER STAR which shifted out under pressure.

Near the 150 Metres, AWE was directed to the inside of THINKIN' BIG after being disappointed for running between that horse and ALCARI.

Approaching the 100 Metres, BEAUTY RUSH lay out under pressure.

When questioned, M Chadwick stated that he was provided with two sets of instructions on how to ride CRAIG'S STAR from the wide barrier.

He said if CRAIG'S STAR began well and he was able to obtain a forward position without having to make too much use of the horse, he should do so, however, it was important for him to obtain cover on CRAIG'S STAR if possible.

He said alternatively he was told that if the circumstances of the race meant that he would have had to ride his mount along or that CRAIG'S STAR may be left racing without cover, he should steady his mount in the early stages to take up whatever position which was available.

He said CRAIG'S STAR began satisfactorily, however, given that a number of horses were being ridden along to obtain a forward position which were better drawn than CRAIG'S STAR, he felt that he would have had to make a lot of use to cross runners to his inside to obtain a forward position and prevent covering unnecessary ground.

He said he therefore commenced to shift CRAIG'S STAR across with a view to obtaining cover behind TURIN REDSTAR near the 1200 Metres.

He said he expected SUPER STAR to shift across to race closer to the rail which would provide him with the opportunity to obtain cover behind TURIN REDSTAR, however, when SUPER STAR maintained its position behind that horse, he then shifted CRAIG'S STAR across behind SUPER STAR to obtain cover which resulted in CRAIG'S STAR racing towards the rear of the field.

A veterinary inspection of THE CROWN and ALCARI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

THE CROWN, BEAUTY RUSH and INVINCIBLE MISSILE were sent for sampling.
