When you’re on holiday, sleeping by the pool or beside the beach all day sounds so much more appealing than trying to research and find a gym, or discover new running routes.

Getting organised to work out can sometimes feel as if it requires too much motivation. You are on holiday after all.

Yes, you are on holiday … but some days, when the clock strikes midnight and that third serving of dinner isn’t sitting right, it might be time to get moving – even for a quick session

However, some days, when the clock strikes midnight and that third serving of dinner isn’t sitting right, it might be time to get moving – even if just for a quick session.

To help you out, check out some of our favourite workout apps that will help you to stay fit no matter where you are or what hour it is – and all with minimal equipment and, in some cases, time.

8fit, which features custom, no-equipment workouts that can be as short as 15 to 20 minutes in length, is all about getting you where you want to be.

What we love about this app is that it explains proper exercise form to you, so you’re not going to accidentally hurt yourself while attempting something new.

8fit also offers nutrition guidance and meal plans – but only for when you come home, of course.

The app has a free 14-day trial on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Nike Training Club is probably one of the best free training apps out there.

Nike doesn’t care what your fitness level is, how much time you want to devote, or what you’ve got to work with.

The app, with workouts created or inspired by some of your favourite athletes and celebrities, offers body weight strength workouts, cardio, yoga – and everything in between.

You can find the app for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
