Fashion Hongkongers wear: skincare label founder Charlotte Chen’s quirky wardrobe
Hong Kong-born Charlotte Chen, who moved to Singapore four years ago, is the founder of skincare label Everyday for Every Body. We travelled to the Lion City to check out her quirky and fun wardrobe
Charlotte Chen has had a long love affair with fashion and style. Here are her current go-to pieces:
I’ve always loved a bit of colour and unexpected details in my outfits. This Junya Watanabe number that I picked up in Tokyo has these ventilating mesh bits that makes it super appropriate for the weather in Singapore. The heels are from Opening Ceremony; they’re sort of my classic black heels with a twist.
This is my everyday uniform, a pocketed T-shirt (like this one from Grana – supporting local start-ups!) and a pair of dark trousers. These ones are a bit more fabulous as they’re vintage monogram Fendi, which I’m obsessed with of late.
Colour and shapes are my weakness so this Roksanda top is totally up my alley, though my sister hates it as it apparently consumes my frame. Oh well.
When it comes to accessories, I takemore risks and opt for bolder choices. These Sophia Webster kitten heels are business at the front, party at the strap, which I love. Micro sunglasses are all the rage of late and I uncovered a red vintage Dior pair at a samples sale many years ago. The bag is Fendi By The Way; it surprisingly goes with everything I wear.
I love sculptural earrings and these are actually an affordable pair I found at Madewell during a business trip to New York. I wore these silver Gucci loafers. This micro Lady Dior bag goes with everything.
When it comes to my beauty top shelf, my go-to is definitely a decent sunscreen. I use my own Everyday anti-pollution sunscreen serum Resting Beach Face, then put on a swipe of Susanne Kauffman Day Cream Line T, wear Schmidt’s aluminium-free deodorant, and when I have an unfortunate spot, Avene SOS Imperfection Spot Treatment keeps things at bay.
For first-time meetings, I go for a more conservative look: a classic black Chanel jacket paired with a tiny pop of accessories usually does the trick. I’ve been on a health streak of late, so I’ve been using my Apple Watch to track my steps and calories. These Bulgari and Tiffany T bracelets never leave my wrists, I wear them even when I shower and sleep.
This is a second or third time meeting look: a structural and architectural toga set that has unexpected panels and large marbly jewels at the front.
9. When I’m lazy, I just slip on a busy patterned dress and a baseball cap like this Balenciaga number that I bought during a trip to Italy.
