If you could redesign your classroom, how would you like it to be?

I’d make it look super fun. First, I would make it twice as big, and paint the walls with bright colours that would keep students energised and focused. I would also add a food corner that would sell all kinds of snacks, where students could buy food if they were feeling hungry or sleepy. Lastly, I would add chairs and desks with wheels, that can be shuffled around the classroom more easily for group discussions.

My new classroom would use a smart classroom system. It would be like a smart home system – it would analyse the environment and measure the temperature, for example. If it were too hot, it would automatically switch on the fan and the air conditioning. I would be so happy to have a cool classroom waiting for me after a sweltering assembly.

I’ll be honest, my current classroom isn’t great. These are some things I would change: the stairs leading down to the classroom are quite hazardous, so I would replace them with a slide. I would also replace the wooden chairs – that people tend to fall off of – with beanbags. And, to be more environmentally friendly, I would place numerous solar panels on the windowsills. We could use the electricity to power the lights.

A classroom ought to be a comfortable environment. I want to get rid of individual desks and replace them with bigger tables that encourage discussion and group collaboration. I would also like to incorporate some modern technology, such as 3D printers and holographic projectors, that could bring education to life and make it more interesting. Undoubtedly, this would cost a lot of money, but it will help current and future students to learn more, it’s definitely worth it!

If I could re-design my classroom, I would make it look like outer space. There are countless things in outer space that humans have yet to explore. Similarly, there is infinite knowledge out there for a student to learn. I want the classroom’s design to remind students that they should never stop learning, even after they graduate from school.

I would create a designated comfy area, with a sofa, beanbags, and cushions. This could be an area where students and teachers can relax and think. I would also make some adjustments to the chairs and desks in the classroom to make them more comfortable to use and less wobbly.

I would like to have all the desks arranged in a big circle, with everyone facing each other and the teacher interacting with the student from the middle. That way, teachers will be encouraged to talk directly to the students rather than recite from textbooks or Google slides. This arrangement would also stop students from messing about and will keep them more focused.

I’d make it a flying classroom. Imagine how amazing it would be to be able to travel to somewhere like Egypt with your class for a history lesson, or Paris to learn French from native speakers. We would be able to learn so much!

I’d install a free water refilling station in the corner. My classmates and I have such busy schedules and some of us don’t get enough sleep. We need to keep hydrated in class to stay awake, alert, and energised.

Each classroom would have its own library. It would smell like old books and paper. I would also like it to have a huge window, with a view of the trees outside. I would also add big beanbags and giant teddy bears that smell like the ocean breeze in one half of the room, and chairs on wheels and spacious desks in the other half. Last but not least, there would be a Ten Ren bubble tea shop inside.
