Coronavirus: Hong Kong government expands vaccine scheme; overseas students in HK, over-30s, and domestic helpers now eligible
- Around 5.5 million Hongkongers will be eligible for jabs beginning tomorrow
- Twelve more community vaccination centres offering the BioNTech vaccine will open

Hong Kong’s Covid-19 vaccination scheme is now open to people aged 30-59, students aged 16 or above who are studying abroad in HK, and domestic helpers starting tomorrow.
Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip Tak-kuen made the announcement today, adding that twelve more community vaccination centres offering the BioNTech jab will open.
Those who are eligible can book a vaccination appointment at a community centre online from tomorrow at 9am, or at a private clinic with the help of their doctor.
Eight community vaccination centres will offer the mainland-produced Sinovac, while 19 will offer Pifizer-BioNTech. Following the new announcement, vaccine priority groups will cover 5.5 million Hong Kong residents, and over 80 per cent of people aged 16 or above will be eligible to receive the jab.
Should the vaccine scheme continue?
The government said around 190,700 people have been vaccinated so far, with about 157,200 receiving their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine and about 33,500 their first dose of the BioNTech jab.
