The Elric brothers are back for more magical steampunk action-adventure in a new animated movie, Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos.

Melvin Voyager, a convict, has made an explosive and daring escape from prison using powerful ice and lightning alchemy. His escape is strange because he only had a few months left of his five-year sentence. State-sanctioned alchemists of Amestris, Edward and his brother Alphonse are assigned to capture him.

Amongst Melvin's prison belongings, the duo find a newspaper clipping about a young woman named Julia Crichton, who was arrested for espionage in the remote Table City, located on the border between Amestris and Creta.

There's no apparent connection between Melvin and Julia, but with only this clue, the Elric brothers set off for Table City to capture the dangerous Melvin.

The movie has done well in Japan and in its limited release in the United States. It even won best feature (animation), best writing (animation/adaptation) and best director (animation) at the Burbank International Film Festival in California.

The English-dubbed DVD and Blu-ray release of the movie from FUNimation is scheduled for this spring; unfortunately no exact release date has been confirmed. A Cantonese-dubbed version is available, but comes only with Chinese subtitles.
